1. Total number of books I've owned:
No clue. Thousands, I'm sure. I weed regularly.
2. Last book I bought:
Sisters of the Raven, by Barbara Hambly. I've generally been fond of Barbara Harmbly, haven't kept up with her much in years, and this was decent, but certainly not stellar. I tend to enjoy her fantasies in part because she actually pays attention to the economics...
3. Last book I read:
The same. Haven't been reading a lot of fiction recently, just because of my schedule. This was my book this week.
4. 5 books that mean a lot to me:
The Earthsong Trilogy, by Sharon Webb
Has anyone else even read these? Darn but I love these books. Lots of discussion on the role of creativity and meaning in one's life.
Cyteen, by CJ Cherryh
One of my all time favorite science fiction books. Hard science, and sociology and brilliant characterizations.
How to Cook a Wolf, by MFK Fisher
My introdution to serious food writing.
Before European Hegemony, by Janet L Abu-Lughod
Okay, this is kind of a stand in for a number of books on political economics that I adore -- certainly one of my favorites.
How to Grow Vegetables West of the Cascades by Steve Solomon
Oh -- so that's why my tomatoes sucked so bad!
5. Five people to take up the meme and answer in their own lj:
Okay, I'm greatly dubious about any meme that acts like a chain letter, but then it was kind of fun to be picked, to so my picks are:
mimichan,
mockly,
zdallin,
gramina and
cow.
...if they wish. And if they don't wish, I'd really appreciate it if they picked someone else from my friends list to be on the hot seat.
