Another failed blood donation attempt. Low blood iron. Again. Maybe this is more likely when I've been sick? I certainly don't *feel* anemic. But they gave me pie, anyway.

One the way back, I was listening to an NPR segment on the culture wars, that focused on Washington State. One of the speakers, an Evangelical Christian who had been raised Democratic but has become more republican over the years was talking. It was interesting -- he thought the Republicans were too much the party of big business, which kept them from doing the right thing on economical issues and issues of the environment. However, this seemed to be trumped, as I understood it, by frustration with the Democrats' inability of "recognise evil", and "social issues". And there was a lot about how he believed in American exceptionalism, and how we're better and more righteous than anyone else, and a shining example to the rest of the world.

There's this whole world view there... I can vaguely see the contours, but I really have trouble getting it. I think I almost understand it best in fiction -- the lonely group of people with on the Side of the Right against the rest of the world (most of whom are unwitting dupes, or whatever) being a fairly established motif, but...

Is anyone having a clothing exchange any time soon? I was just doing a major sorting of current clothing, and have a number of things that I'm not wearing that are nice enough that I'd like to give folks rights of first refusal before sending them off.

(A number of cute things that don't work for me one way or another -- like the bra unfriendly black halter top shell, what was I thinking? A lot of nice long sleeved knit cotton shirts, mostly in soft blues, burgundies or greens... A couple of wicking tops that are just too short for me and I don't wear things that don't reliably stay tucked in when I'm working out...) Most things are in sizes L or XL. (I don't know what to make of these sizes. There are a couple of wicking lightweight bike jersey ish things that are too short and yet are snug at XL, and yet most of the L every day shirts are roomy to quite roomy at L.)

It's kind of amusing sorting out the shirts I do wear. They mostly go into the catagories of "tank tops (mixed), short sleeved wicking shirts, long sleeved wicking shirts, and all other shirts" with the last catagory being the smallest. I'm so boring.

I haven't quite worked up to sorting through jewelry, though I really need to. Once upon a time I was someone who wore jewelry -- and I have quite the collection of wild earings and interesting necklaces and so on to prove it. Most of it I haven't worn in years now. Even the Bimbette the Sex Kitten necklace really deserves a new home...
