Oct. 20th, 2005 09:32 amStarted with Chen Dao last night. (BTW, while it is the term my school uses, I really don't like the term "broadsword". Willow leaf sabre?) I've been told a few times that dao would suit my body better than jian, but... darn it, I like my jian, and I yeah I'm big and clunky, but I still hate being typecast.
Much of this drained away as soon as got my dao. Now keep in mind, we're talking a not particularly high quality practice blade. And yet it felt good, and there was indeed a certain sense of proportionality. Of course, my off hand just ached to be in sword hand, and I had to recast a lot of the moves softer, from the sharp, crisp, fully extended wushu moves...
My shoulder is a bit sore this morning. Stretches, heat and ice. And more biochem homework, and then off to Microsoft. *shakes head*
