Dec. 22nd, 2005 02:50 pmSo, who are y'all's picks for democratic presidential candidate in 2008, and why? If necessary, giving both fantastic and pragmatic pick (or "the person I'd like" and "the person I can stomach who is electable) is perfectly reasonable.
I'm asking this in part because I am realizing just how upset I am with most of the democratic party. However, it is most likely that in 2008 I will vote democrat, once again. (If I am absolutely, completely certain that the state in which I reside is going to go one way or the other, and I really despise the democratic candidate, and I can find a third party candidate that I can really get behind, I might go third party.)
I think my current top vaguely pragmatic pick is probably John Edwards. This is a cautious assertion, though. He's a good speaker, he's doing pretty well on not being a weasle (though his support of the Iraq war, while being a member of the senate select intelligence committee... uhrm.)
And I liked Hillary Clinton. I really, really don't think I have the intestinal fortitude to survive a presidential bid by her, though. (And I've had some very disturbing dreams about Clinton vs. Frist elections. I like to think Frist has done himself in. Did I mention how I utterly and completely loathe Frist? I would rather have dinner with Ashcroft. I suspect I could have a reasonable conversation with Ashcroft, whereas I would probably end up attacking Frist with serving utensils.)
Once upon a time I had a pleasant afternoon daydream about Colin Powell running as a democrat. But no more.
Carol Mosley-Braun I really like. So not going to happen...
