My Brother Makes Music
Feb. 5th, 2010 04:44 pmI've posted a lot of links to my sister's videos over the last bit. And y'all haven't heard almost any mention of my brother... um, mostly because we don't keep up as well. (Lauren does a good job for making sure I stay in touch. I don't think Sam is any worse than I am, but... well.)
Anyhow, my brother is a musician and DJ, and lives in SF, and does all manner of cool things. (I really am the misanthropic geek of my family. If you think I'm not a misanthropic geek... well, you probably don't know either of my younger sibs.) The record label he's with* just released a compilation album, that can be downloaded for free.
To quote his mail:
"I just gave it a full listen tonight, and I have to say it is really beautiful. Personally, I think the first 7 or 8 songs are really great, then there is a little bit of a lull, but then some real gems come out towards the end. It is 20 songs long, so there is a lot of potential for down-time. But it is all very listenable. Casey and Shannon who run the label have excellent taste. It's the kind of thing you could put on for a nice glass of wine (or two or three), or a great make-out album. Maybe if you like to read and listen to music (I don't).
My song is second. It's an okay song of mine and definitely fits the album, though in the grand scheme of things one of my less exciting.
Hope you guys like it:

Anyhow, I just realized that my computer is speaking to my headphones again, and got around to listening to it. Sam allows it might even be good work at the lab bench music... It might even be decent code to this music once I've heard it a few times - the first time through I just stopped coding and listened. It's pretty awesome. Dear gods, baby bro has gotten all grown up...
* Ascension Records. If I were cool, I'd have known about them before this.
