Nov. 27th, 2003 01:33 pmThere are few things I find quite as satisfying as having a chance to wash dishes in between making things, and having the kitchen be, if not empty and immaculate, at least ordered and business-like on Thanksgiving. (For this I start cooking on Tuesday. Not because I like knocking myself out cooking for three days, but because I like not knocking myself out, and cooking leisurely for three days is fun.)
Fire to start, and then pie crusts... Then chopping veggies and squash, and really, from there on it's all finishing work. (Well, if you can count tying up the lamb with rosemary as finishing work, prior to tossing it in the oven...)
Hmmm... this all would seem to indicate that a catastrophe is on the way.
Of course, we've already lost three people to the plague, perhaps that's catastrophic enough. We might even be able to seat 14 at the main table and use the other for staging.
