The day without a morning commute
Jan. 6th, 2004 11:00 amThis morning Craig had an appointment, so I was going to go in with him, hang out in a bookstore, then drop him off at the busstop so I would have the car when I wanted to head in to Wushu later. (It's supposed to be the first day of the quarter.) So from abou 4am on, I'd wake up every hour and a half or so to see if it was snowing yet.
Time to really wake up rolled around, and just as I was looking out the window, it started snowing. So Craig called in, confirmed that he wouldn't be coming in, and we both crawled back into bed. (Yes, usually I'm a morning person, and don't go in for the lie-ins. But I've been shorting myself.)
The normal reassuring sounds of the morning commute just didn't happen. Heck, the fairly normal recently sounds of cars sliding down our private road didn't even happen. And my favorite traffic cam was fixed for the occaision.
The snow is so fine, powdery. It's hard to believe it's supposed to warm up and turn into rain later today. *sniff* (I mean, it's a pain in the neck, but I'd far rather have had *this* snow hang around for days instead of the wet snow that later froze that we did get.)
