Here I am, once again, at Craig's work late at night, hijacking bandwidth from some other company in the building.

What a day! After this morning's suckage, feeling a little under the weather, I wandered over to [livejournal.com profile] who_is_she's place to commit havoc upon her tree and practice Chen with her and [livejournal.com profile] punzel. Much Chen and gossip was had, of both CZL and competition form varieties. (Well, the Chen -- I won't go into the gossip.)

Then I went into town for wushu. (And cheap Vietnamese sandwiches and free bandwidth.) It was an amusing wushu day -- last wednesday there were easily twenty people, today there were seven. Apparently there's some kind of school vacation in progress for Seattle... So I got to practice kicks with my sister (hee!) and help the new students with combinations... and some time in there Shifu told the more advanced group to take a break. Which I should have taken, but decided to practice junior longfist with Rebecca again. Shifu thought that was a great idea, so I then got to do it all by myself to the tune of many corrections.

Did I mention I was feeling a bit better than I had last week? My shoulder was still tweaking a bit with weight, so I did sword mostly empty handed, but it was a good class all the same. At some point along the way, I asked Shifu about stance height on one of the horse stances, and she told me I had to keep it in proportion to the height of my bow stances. So, since I didn't have a sword, I kept myself amused by gong through the sword form with wushu height stances. Which was pretty interesting, and I think prompted some of the better feedback I've gotten recently. (Better in terms of useful, rather than effusive, but I'm pretty happy with it. She's drilling me on stuff that's mostly only done in competition.)

1st Note: Sword with really low stances is probably a great way of building up my legs.

2nd Note: ...but it's really pretty dumb to do it on triple class day, when I've already done wushu and have two hours of Chen, where low stances are required, to go.

That having been said, Chen went pretty well. So nice to not bein huge amounts of pain! Though by the end my poor legs were begging for mercy. (That doesn't count.)

Obviously, I need to train harder ;-) If my back will just stay together, that is what I'll do.

So it then turns out that Craig needs to stop by the office. I attempted to take a nap on his cube floor, but in the end gave up -- the industrial carpet isn't bad, but my jacket packs down to the size of an orange. Which is great for hiking, but makes a lousy pillow.
