Today I picked up a copy of "Reading Lolita in Tehran". I'm really enjoying it. Rebellion through the exploration of literature...
I think I need to write something about desire. Not desire in the plain acquisitive sense, or most prosaic sexual sense, but desire in terms of an urge to change things, to enjoy things, to create. Desire as the necessary opposite of contentment, as the will that says "this is not enough, it can be better, I can make it better..."
And on the flip side, the interactions between desire and the need to survive, to persist, to bear up under disappointment... Hmmm...
