tylikSo Craig and I just finished watching The Return of the King special edition. (Yeah, just. Been busy.)
And yeah, I'm a rabid fangirl, etc. etc. (And can someone tell me why they cut the two Eowyn and Faramir scenes? I mean, they couldn't between them be more than two minutes...)
But... was it just me, or was Bernard Hill (Theoden) the most regal thing in the movie? I mean, throughout I've been impressed with how much Viggo made of Aragorn -- which frankly, isn't one of the more interesting roles in the books. But compare, side by side, Theoden giving his men a pep talk before battle, with Aragorn doing the same thing. It's funny -- you know perfectly well that Aragorn hasn't exactly had an easy life, but Theoden is the kind of guy you would follow in the hell, because you know he knows the way there and back. I remember thinking in the last two movies that he just had all the best lines... but I'm not as sure now. I mean, Legolas has some lines (elsewhere there was some reference to "Captain Obvious") that just made me giggle... but perhaps that was the delivery. Not everyone can pull that kind of poetry off.
