I have the machine from heck in the lab. I mean, it's a nice machine (and there's another just like it sitting under my officemate's desk. Just sitting there. No one else is working on this project but me, yet. Gods only know what we'll do with the other four copies of visual studios and MSDN and... oy. Sometimes I can't believe I took on this project.) But... I have had more annoying little problems from this beast. Of course, that it's clearly set up as a really kick ass gaming box, and I'm really not a gamer doesn't help anything. After more hunting down BIOS updates and cracking the box and tweaking the harddrive config and such than I really want to think about it's set up with Windows Server 2003. Sadly, it's decided it no longer remembers that it has a net card on the main board... (On the plus side, I got an awful like of Chinese homework done. And attended a nfity talk.)
I'm reminded why so many people get such a bad attitude about Microsoft software. And yes, I did work there for seven years. And yes, my independent frugality has its roots there. And it still is the most obfuscated flakey byzantine crap...!
Oh well. Maybe I'll actually get something serious done on my project soon. That would be awfully nice.
