Jun. 15th, 2005 11:37 pmWell, except for a random allergy attack, I do seem to be getting better. Lousy way to spend my "week off". (When the week off only involves not doing one of my three major time sinks, you have to wonder how "off" it is...)
This morning started on the wonderful note of running myself a nice hot bath, and stepping into it only to realize the water was tepid at best. On investigation (after I finished my bath) the hot water heater was leaking all over the place. This was pretty irritating, as we replaced it just five years ago... but I called the people who put it in, and it turned out to still be under warranty, and they could make it out this afternoon, and now we have a new water heater.
That was so easy. I should mention that when it failed the first time, we went through a protracted bait and switch game with Action, who I *strongly* recommend against. What a bunch of con artists! (After their little bait and switch games -- starting with a quote of $400, which suddenly became $1500, they tried to make us pay for the visit, which was never mentioned before... and threatened legal action. We ignored them, and the legal action never materialized. Funny that...) Anyhow, we didn't have any hot water for several days, and that's before you take into account the effect of all the aggravation.
Anyhow, after that we called McClendon's, having never gotten a bad referral from them, and they recommended Ben-La, who have been great.
