further evidence of encroaching senility

tylik... so I decided, on short notice, to bike in, today. Transferred my notes and stuff into the pannier, grabbed my gloves and jacket and hit the trail... only to realize about a block out that I wasn't wearing my helmet.
My helmet. For crying out loud.
Now, riding on the Burke all the way, and all the way being two miles is... well, insufficient, but at least part of the reason I didn't turn back. (Mostly, I would have been late to class, but no way would I have ridden down Avondale without my helmet, late or not.) And more to the point, recumbents were designed specifically to reduce the change of over the handlebar head injuries. So probably not a big deal.
But my helmet. I must be losing my mind.
And this is the most alert and energetic I've felt any morning this week. (Actually, I'm feeling pretty good, except for wanting to remove my pyriformis and beat it soundly with a rubber mallet before putting it back.)
