Feb. 14th, 2006 06:51 pmSo there's this holiday, that I gather most of the people on my friends list dislike. Or at least, those that don't dislike it aren't talking.
Personally, I don't much care about the holiday one way or the other. Usually I do something with someone, but it's not a day of major expectations for me. (Which is good -- plans for this evening have already changed twice, and currently they're at "maybe I'll see Craig, maybe I'll do biochem homework and go to bed early".) If I have one regret it's that I don't have the time or energy to do something cool for all my friends who are depressed. (Anonymous, I suspect, would be best, on the theory that the guessing is part of the fun.)
What is it about this holiday, though? The irritation doesn't seem to be merely about being single. Is it the highly normative bit? (I mean, that does suck.) The idea that it's all about this fairly narrow mode of romantic expression? Drunken half naked chases through the streets do sound like they could be a definate improvement (though there's this nasty bitter wind out today).
