Tuesday I stayed home and studied. I'd review a chunk, and put in a load of laundry and wash a few dishes. And review another chunk and go out and practice forms. And another chunk, and check liverjournal. Deeply satisfying. Got taken out to sushi by [livejournal.com profile] stolen_tea and J (does J have an LJ?) that evening. I was probably hitting a point of diminishing returns right around then, so this worked well. Cheerful babbling. (I'd only met J once before, a conversation that can summarized:

Us: "Oooh! Chinese language!"

Us: "Oooh! Internal Chinese martial arts! Hey, and there's a couple of swords in my trunk!"

Room full of people: "We're trying to watch a movie -- shut up!")

Yesterday didn't go quite as smoothly. By midday I had a pretty nasty headache. I was careful and kind to my body, and tried to go on studying, and the headache was a little better, and I wasn't wholly unproductive, but bleh. Headed down to sword and Chen (while the part of my neck that was giving me a headache also made it hard to use my shoulder while weilding a sword, my stance work was the most solid it's been in a bit). Felt a bit better after a while, if still not really all there... and then managed to hit my head really hard against the heater. The pain of that faded quickly enough, but left me slightly dizzy and queasy whenever I turned too quickly for the rest of the class.

And then after class I stayed far too long arguing with R, an ND, about medicine, genetics and biomechanics. Probably the least annoying conversation I've ever had with him on these subjects, but he still has these irritating luddite "maybe we should just abandon this technology altogether, the good and the bad, because we just shouldn't be playing god with life" tendency. Though when presented with specific examples, he couldn't quite argue for letting people die nasty horrible deaths if we had the ability to give them happier fates just because gene therapy squicks him. His background in biomechanics is actually pretty sound, even if I really can't abide the way he holds his shoulders... (And he was starting to tell me something about Pasteur admitting on his deathbed that he was wrong about the whole bacteria thing and... well, I changed the subject. There was nowhere good that conversation could go.)

And this morning my head still hurts, though I can't whether it's mostly my neck or mostly running into the damned heater. (I've been at this school for... seven years? And the entire time I've had a love / hate but mostly hate relationship with this heater. Reznor, it's not your friend.) Oh well. More studying, then off to PT, and hopefully Alexa can but my neck back together.
