Mar. 30th, 2006 09:21 pmI can be pretty dumb about physical stuff, at times. Part of this is that I seem to spend so much of my time interacting with medical professionals as it is, that I tend to not want to see them any more. Part of it is that I still don't have the highest expectations for my body. (Hmmm... I'm having trouble breathing. Oh well, I'm probably just out of shape. I *feel* really out of shape right now, thanks.) So it's been kind of clear for a while that the last change to the asthma meds, while it helped a lot, isn't quite doing the trick. (This is the one time of year I usually need something extra.) And I decided, at least three times, that I ought to call my doctor and do something about it. And then CWTA when on break, and I was kind of hoping to wait it out...
I've also had low grade headaches every day for the past three weeks or so. Completely muscular in origin. And I'd worked out, all on my own, that most of what's been triggering my neck recently has been overuse of the secondary muscles of respiration, because I've been working out even though I have asthma. Anyhow, Alexa rather forcibly pointed out that these things are still connected, and I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I really hate taking drugs. But I like breathing an awful lot. Maybe this is why I've been a little tired recently? Especially when I'm outside? Especially when it's not raining?
In other news, A. and I have been rearranging our office. The results are not perfect, as V. forbid us to recycle to ugly desk extension from hell (okay, even that wouldn't make the office perfect) but it is enough better that I smile every time I walk through the door. We've even agreed on a picture for the newly bare wall:

Though Arrogance and Achievement were close runners up. Really, though, I don't think either of us want to think about vast amounts of cheap labour right now.
And hey, 175 gb of SQL tables compressed into a 41 gb cube. And the front end is a piece of crap, but the back end seems to be pretty solid. Typical. Ah,
adularia we pine for you...
I repotted my rosemary bush a couple of days ago, and am starting to eye the assortment of other pots speculatively. I need to find a good source of herb starts. I'm pretty well set up for starting things like basil and tomatoes, but I prefer to let someone else do the parsley. Hmm.... vietnamese cilantro, and chives, and sweet cicely... maybe some thyme and majoram. Maybe some lemongrass, that would be entertaining. And garlic greens. Maybe even green onions, planted densely.
And despite being more than usually aware that my lungs are aching, my swords were clearly in need of attention, so after icing my neck I spent about an hour and a half alternating between weapons forms and open hands forms, while the sun went down, and the boats went by. I really can't do anything more than moderately exertive -- a couple times through Chen Dao at full speed has me breathing hard -- but it still was good.
craigp,
who_is_she, we ought to go through the competition form sometime soon. I made it all the way through, but I slipped into old frame more than once, and it's a form that I want to keep up.
