Whole Foods vs. Yer Local Co-op
Jul. 8th, 2006 10:15 amSo I've heard a number of people express pretty strong opinions about whether they prefer Whole Foods or their local co-op. What's your take on it?
I'm particularly interested in:
Any ethical differences you percieve between the two.
What kinds of stuff you buy, and what selection is offerred in each.
Price.
The extent to which each works with local suppliers, community involvement, etc.
Anything else you think relevant.
I've been a co-op shopper for most of my life. (PCC still strikes me as kind of the scary corporate chain of co-ops, though I've become fond of them.) I've only been to Whole Foods a few times, and honestly I wasn't that impressed, but I really don't buy much packaged or processed food. (Except, gods help me, nutrition bars.)
