tylikThis has aspects of a gratuitous icon post... because I've spent much of the day working around the boat, and it occurred to me that making the boat warm and cozy and pleasant when things are dark and cold is not the same thing at all as sunny happy boat pictures. The lesson, however, is that I really need a tripod if I'm going to take pictures in the dark. (A tripod is not a priority, though.)
So... my desk is now much less cluttered, and it is a happy thing. I really need to find a particular piece of furniture. This piece will be something like a two drawer filing cabinet, except in place of one of the drawers there will be room for me to put my somewhat bulky laser printer. And then I will put my lemongrass, which needs to be inside for the winter, on top of that, under the smaller plant light.
Speaking of plant lights, I have a 48" double tube flourescent light that I've decided just doesn't fit on the boat. Anyone want it? This is one of the lights I used to use to grow herbs during the winter, and do plant starts indoors in the spring. It works great for that. (It's not strong enough for serious veggie growing, though, just veggie starts.)
My harp is tuned. Or I should say, as of a few minutes ago it was tuned. A couple of the new strings still aren't holding their tune very well. Still, I hadn't played in a while, and that was nice. I found my candle-latern candles, and all the candle lanterns have been refilled. I went through all the mail that I'd thought I shouldn't recycle immediately (and recycled that vast majority of it. Sometimes mail just needs to be aged.)
Also found the first chapter of Zhuangzi, that I was working on, and found a decent folder for it, and then located and printed out the first chapter of 孫子兵法 for good measure. (Zhuangzi is hard. Sunzi, on the other hand, is fun and pretty easy going.) I adore online texts for this kind of thing -- printing everything out in 20 point double spaced leaves plenty of room for translation notes. Don't know that I'll spend much more time on it, but I'm hoping having something a little less mind bending to work on will help. I should see if I can find any online copies of 聊齋誌異, since while the copy I have is pretty, it's a pain to work with.)
Bread is rising, and tomorrow the whole area will be taken over by some regatta thing.
