Dec. 18th, 2006 02:59 pmToday is gardening day. Which mostly means cleaning up the garden for the winter. I still have a lot of herbs, though I'm a little grouchy that I didn't manage to root some of the vietnamese cilantro for inside before the outside plants froze. If anyone sees vietnamese cilantro plants somewhere, let me know, please? Might plant some more garlic greens in some of the newly cleared pots. Must come up with more things to do with parsley.
Indoors I transplanted the basil. I should have had enough to give away, but I also should have transplanted it a week or two ago. Natural selection has left me with fewer, though very healthy, plants. They now have a lot more room to grow, and I've planted more basil, though I think I'm also going to grow something else. Maybe even cilantro, though I so much prefer vietnamese cilantro the regular sort will be a letdown.
My orchid also seems to be getting ready to bloom. I finally figured out what kind of is, and found that they prefer lots of light, and heavier watering than most. And regular feeding. So it sits on the warm mat, under the grow light which is on for 14+ hours a day, and I feed and water it, and hey, it seems to like that a lot. I think it will need to be divided after this. And I should look at lemongrass propagation, as the indoor sun shoppe people would really love to get some lemongrass starts...
