Dec. 23rd, 2006 04:50 pmSo this year I did solstice twice. Thursday night up at the Woodinville house, which was a brave crew as it still had no power. While I'd done extended periods of time without power there before, I don't think I'd ever heated up the house with the brick oven after it had gotten so dang cold -- it was in the forties when I showed up. Takes longer, that way. Glad we did it, pretty satisfied to have it be the last time... it's still pretty strange to go up there, and see the kitchen so very much not ordered by me, the trees unpruned, the gardens grown over. I miss the brick oven. Eventually I'm going to set down long enough somewhere else that it will make sense to have another one built. Didn't stay especially late.
Then last night, having decided that I was too spacey to get anything useful done, I stopped by the Strangland solstice, and ended up staying until *mumble* am. (Though I dozed through some large part of that.) That was nice. Still a little amused by how differently people respond to me when I dress even vaguely feminine. Though I guess being tired and spacey might have done a bit there, too.
