This morning, despite sleeping poorly and then training extra long, I was on track to get into the lab earlyish. I was also dressed a little nicer than usual.
There is a short cut coming off the bluff. It is a steep and somewhat treacherous dirt path. I don't tend to worry as, hey, falling is one of the first things we learn. This morning it was a mud path (no complaints, we need the rain). I did slip. I was fine. Except for the mud. All things considered I got to the apartment, cleaned and changed very quickly.
On the plus side, at the bottom of the short cut, when I finally made it down the, was a Pluteus cervinus. So I brought it into the lab, figured out where the histology scopes, razors, nerdles (my 133t hand sectioning skills have not yet rotted away!) slides and covers were and took some gill sections.
Best part of this? My new labmates seemed interested rather than appalled. They even came and looked at the cystidia.
