Saturday is the shaker square farmer's market. So I am loaded down with tomatoes, peaches and peppers. I did not, however, get nearly enough zucchini. OTOH, many of my new lab mates have been threatening to unload their extra zucchini on the lab, and I am perhaps the most willing victim. (I have also started more than the usual quantity of wheat and rye sprouting, even though K is gone and so won't be eating his usual portion of the bread. Three loaves, I think -- one for the lab, one for C and R if I go to Xingyi with them again, and one for me.)

I also found a local maker of beeswax candles, the nieces of a local beekeeper, and better yet they carried 2" pillars. Those are pretty much my favorites, as they burn slowly, but evenly, not forming the wells that the 3" pillars do, even if you burn them for a relatively short period of time. I might re-institute the electric lights off after nine thing on my own... though I do enjoy curling up in bed with fiction right before going to sleep. I also picked up a shaped candle they made, which might be a lotus bud... Not certain, but it has a place on my little shrine. Not entirely certain where I'm going with the shrine, but I'm liking it.

Later, I went to the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions, and lo and behold they were selling carnivorous plants. I'd just been lamenting to myself that some of the sundews I had shipped to me on line aren't doing well (I think the bare root shipping might have been a little too hard on them). One is doing beautifully, of course, happily luring in and munching upon any flies that dare to try and invade... Anyhow, I added another sundew, a venus flytrap, and a pitcher plant. Clearly, now, what I really need to do is add more herbs ;-)
