Aug. 14th, 2007 08:43 pmI'm being so boring today...
So, while my SI joint stability is doing well at the moment, my upper back has been a bit iffy. Last week I finally went searching for a chiropractor (numbness and pins and needles down my right arm and across my face, and of course, headaches) and after a great deal of grumpiness and trouble finding a track record for anyone, the first person I called was from one of the less scary schools, and could see me that day. I like him -- very gentle, very precise. We geeked biomechanics for a bit afterwards. I'm pretty amazed, considering the trouble I had finding chiropractors on the West Side in Seattle that I could work with. (I'm a picky bitch.) Also, though everything went into place easily. Between that bit of knowledge, and the feedback I got from someone else poking at my spine, I set out to see if I couldn't work things into place on my own if they went out again. I *think* I'm pulling it off -- it still takes a little bit of time, but I feel better afterwards. Though maybe some of the instability that I'm seeing is in part that I'm not actually that great at this.
I think I might be able to tweak my computer setup at the lab. (And the chair I'm using still isn't ideal... but it shouldn't be giving me this much trouble. This after ransacking not only our labs but several other adjacent ones. All these fancy chairs, and almost none of them with fixed backs or decent lumbar support.) I seem to have gotten a certain amount of instability around T1-T3 ish. I'm wondering, though -- on the whole, the alignment is better through that area than it's been in years, and I'm wondering if some of the yoga work I've been doing has worked through some of the scar tissue. If so, I need to figure out how to work on muscular stability through that area.
I'm also noticing greater variation in my body and energy levels relating to my menstrual cycles. Right before hand, I was suddenly craving all kinds of weird food. Right now... no appetite to speak up. Usually I eat a banana on the way out to train in the morning. Yesterday I forgot, and then trained for an hour before I felt the least bit hungry. (I eat the banana because otherwise I'll get the shakes if I train too hard, especially if I ate lightly the night before, which I had.) Tonight I have had a smoothie, and some edamame. And I feel nicely full. I haven't even tasted the bread I baked this morning. I have way too much food for this level of appetite. Meanwhile, during my period, as with last months, I just felt dead. A little harder to track because my spine is giving me trouble but still I think there's something going on. Wish I could figure out what -- I really don't want that kind of fatigue.
