Nov. 15th, 2008 12:48 pmSnarfing other people's bandwidth can be complicated.
(This is a temporary situation - blew out a component on the router's power supply. Need to either replace the power supply or the component. Which requires one trip to radio shack, and if the latter option, a soldering iron. I'll be doing some soldering in the lab tomorrow regardless, but I forgot to ask K to pull out the soldering iron before he left.)
There's at least one network which identifies itself as public. There are several others that are unsecured. (Hey, when *I* leave a wifi access point unsecured, I mean it as courtesy to others. But I try not to presume upon other people's unless... well, unless the other options are really limited. I try to be good, but network connectivity is not an optional thing.) My two favorites both disappear from time to time.
Okay, I should really make it to radio shack. Because the other thing I wanted to do this weekend was work on the house server... (Spending three and a half hours on math this morning was kind of excessive, if pleasant. It would have helped had I not made a sign error in the first line of that one problem, though...)
