So, is it always socially appropriate to base your actions on the information someone presents, even if you suspect that they are distorting their true feelings?
(I'm thinking about actions between you and this other person, not bringing third parties into it. Allowing one person's disinformation to skew your actions with someone else if you suspect this might be the case is another kind of problem.)
