Yesterday Craig and I went to the Redmond Farmer's market.

Everyone, this is the time to hit the farmer's markets. There is more good stuff to eat right now...! (Of coruse, if you're on the other side of the lake, the University Farmer's market is even better.)

Anyhow, along with some of the nicest okra I've ever seen in this state, some exquisite white eggplants, tomatillos and assorted peppers, one of the stands was seeling basil, $5 for six bunches. This looked like a good idea, and I haven't made pesto for freezing yet this year, so I got some.

I hadn't quite realized how big the bunches were... I ended up with a large plastic grocery bag completely stuffed with basil. I've then had to acquire parmasean (too much of that -- Costoc was seeling 1/6th wheels -- I'm feeling like the cheese guy from that one buffy episode, pawning it off on everyone I know) and even greater quantities of olive oil and garlic than I usually keep on hand just to work through it.

My muffin tins are all full in the freezer now, so I get a break...

And then tomales for dinner, I think. And okra. And japanese cooked spinach salad.
