Apr. 25th, 2009 03:45 pmI am still horribly behind on LJ related correspondence. If I get enough done on my biomech paper maybe I will get more caught up.
But I finally found a bike shop. Put it off for a really long time, and then lost my chain grease. So after the farmer's market I set out to find a bike shop I'd had recommended. I've generally had a pet bike shop, but this one might manage to earn my loyalty without my showing up at their door, bleeding and holding pieces of my bike. (Okay, this has only happened twice. But hey, people who give me alcohol wipes and bandaids, and help me put my bike back together are awesome.)
I was treated kind of surprisingly like royalty. They loved the recumbent. Okay, not so common in Ohio. And they they fawned over my Ortliebs, and commented that I must have done a lot of touring. ("Ah, no, certainly not since I got them. I was just a daily, all-weather commuter. In Seattle." Ee. I feel like I'm on the restrained side for gear compared to many people I know. It took me years, an REI 20% off anything coupon and a paper with all my advisor's comments washed away before I bought the Ortliebs... Though gosh, they are nice.) When I go pick up my bike tomorrow I am going to pick their brains about maps and trails and things. The biking/hiking plan will see some action! It is kind of amazing how much really getting enough sleep and then getting a lot of exercise improves my outlook on life. (Though... no sparring.)
Though next time I walk back from the shop (they're working over my shifters) after visiting the farmer's market I think I'll bring a backpack.
Oh, and it's 29 degrees, and the building has not switched over to AC yet. Which is okay, as it's also really windy (though there was a disturbing sounding crash from Kendrick's room).
