tylikSo I met up with the Chinese couple again this morning. We did the Yang 24 together twice (which I hadn't really been practicing, but by the second time it had come back pretty well... probably have a Chen accent, though) and then the man and I did the Yang 32 jian form together, twice. And then I went back and did more Laojia Yilu, and all the Shaolin Long forms I know.
There was also a lot of conversation about whether we know any more forms in common. (No.) They said I know a lot of forms (I didn't mention most, actually - just the ones I thought they were likely to know, and only taiji forms) and am very serious about my studies. I laughed and pointed out how much I was forgetting. (The first time through 32 sword, I wandered into 42 for a bit - and I practice those a lot!) After I was done, they asked if I was heading in to school. I explained that I usually did, but that today I was taking my friend to the hospital because, um, his hand hurt. He injured his hand, I was corrected. Yes! That. (Yeah, I'm translating loosely. Which also gives me an excuse to omit my more mangled grammar. But... it's surprisingly easy to talk to them, and it really makes me happy that mostly I can come up with some way to say pretty much whatever I want to. Though if they ask about my research, I'm toast.)
They didn't ask how my friend hurt his hand, though they might suspect. Which I take as a favor, after getting a couple of jokes from Dr. Chiel during lab meeting along the lines of "And if they give Catherine any trouble, she'll break their fingers!"
