tylikNote: I wasn't requesting a longer layover, really. And anyway, it's only useful if I know about it in advance.
We boarded the plane. A few minutes before we were supposed to leave, someone realized we had no pilots, as the ones we were supposed to have were stranded in New York.
So we got off the plane again. Hopefully we will have pilots soon.
