Oct. 11th, 2003 08:40 amOoo. Winds 20-30 mph tonight, with gusts up to 40. Not super high, but as the first real windstorm of the season, anyone want to put any bets on whether or not we lose power?
A delightful wildcard for the whole thing is that after the really good transformer finally blew up -- and that took several years -- we're pretty sure they replaced it with a cheap one. Anyhow, it blew a few months ago. And if, as we suspect, it was replaced by another cheap one, it will only take a few good surges for it to explode in a shower of sparks one more time. To add to the drama quotient, while most people on our street more or less accept power outtages as one of the charms of living here, some of our new neighbors have gotten really uppity about the whole thing, and circulated petitions and suchlike after power was out for most of four days last year.
Maybe I should start some dough for pizza tonight...
