Wushu went pretty well. I mean, it's a lot less amusing with a broken toe, but mostly I kept up with the class. I am really getting to like the Sunday classes. (Though if one more parent asks me why I wasn't there an hour earlier... One o'clock is under 18 only. Hello? Grey hair? Anyone?) The guy who had been involved in breaking my toe (in all fairness it was a team effort) who I had thought might be flirting with me (I can't even really keep the signals straight in my own context) didn't say a word to me at all. Which is kind of funny, but kind of annoying, too.
So then, on a whim, we went to Fry's. As a result of which I ended up buying Craig a harddrive for his laptop instead of external frame backpack. *sigh* Okay, I'm sure he'll get a lot more use out of the hard drive. It's 60 gigs, BTW -- any bets on how long before he's complaining that he's out of space again?
Fry's in general was a disappointment. I mean, their selection of general electronics was amusing, but their selection of computer components was distinctly sub par. I wanted to pick up a solid state CPU cooler to replace the white noise generator that lives in the media box, which they not only did not have, but also had lame reasons for not carrying it ("no one really understands how they work" -- I'm not making this up, he really said that). They didn't have CF wi-fi cards in stock, and then it turns out the only ones they carry are the ones with the adapter that lets them be used in notebooks as well -- which are a lot more expensive, and I can get even those at better prices elsewhere. (Like I'd buy a 802.11 B card for a notebook now anyway. Lame.) They didn't even have much in the way of amusing ipaq gadgets. Or decent ergo equipment. Though they did have an impressive selection of office sized refrigerators. And a good selection of main boards, at least from cursory examination.
So Noodle Boat for dinner and then home, to find the power on, but that it had bounced.
Maybe I'll go out walking in what's left of the windstorm.
