Hmm. To think that for a while there I made a point of updating my journal once a day.

I will be able to continue with the biochem series next quarter (as opposed to having to take the whole thing next year). Timely intervention by [livejournal.com profile] lexicat might have saved my bacon in this respect. (I owe you.) This vastly improves my life ;-) Now I just need my spine to continue getting better, so that this makes sense.

CWTA is now on break. Somehow I forgot that was coming.

I still need to post a little more about the solstice party, but the tasting this year will be of dessert wines (but not sherries or ports). If possible, bring a wine snob description of the wine -- the wine bottles will be covered with brown paper, and we will attempt to match wines to wine descriptions.

Our lab manager make an eggnog that is about 30% distilled spirits. Eek.

I discovered that I can like jogging. Really. Very weird.

If you're interested, I've posted a long update about the goings ons for the Artspawn Chen group over at [livejournal.com profile] artspawnchen. This includes information about the schedule there, what new forms we might be starting, and the possibility of starting something up in the U-dist area.

So the Puget Sound Blood Center just called me, and asked me to donate as their supplies are low. I ended up setting up an appointment at the Bellevue office for 1 pm, and decided that while I don't really think of Solstice as a blood holiday, it seemed like a not unfitting way of marking the day.

Anyone else interested in marking it in a similar fashion? (I know people who celebrate the solstice as a religious holiday, as a non religious holiday, and as just a good time for a party. I vacillate between these myself.) If enough people can make it in more or less a group, they'll receive us as such and send us a special thank you card. It turns out the center in Bellevue is open until eight on Wednesday.
